1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how ThumbSweep (“ThumbSweep,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the ThumbSweep mobile application for iOS (the “App”) and this website.
ThumbSweep is a photo-library cleaning tool. Its design goal is simple: help you review and delete photos and videos on your own device, without operating a ThumbSweep photo-upload server.
By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Short summary
- Your photos and videos are not uploaded to ThumbSweep. We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or processes your photo or video content.
- We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or tracking SDKs in the App.
- Review choices and cleaning stats (for example, which items you marked keep or trash) are stored locally on your device.
- Optional local notifications can be scheduled on your device if you enable them.
- In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. To unlock and restore Premium, the App uses RevenueCat, which may process purchase status and an anonymous app-user identifier. That purchase-related processing is separate from your photo content.
3. Who we are
The App and this website are operated under the name ThumbSweep. For privacy questions, email thumbsweep@gmail.com.
Copyright notice: © 2026 ThumbSweep.
4. Information we do not collect
ThumbSweep does not:
- upload, transmit, or store your photos, videos, screenshots, Live Photos, or similar media on a ThumbSweep server;
- sell your personal information;
- run third-party advertising networks in the App;
- include analytics, crash-reporting, or marketing attribution SDKs in the App for behavioral tracking;
- require you to create a ThumbSweep account or provide your name, postal address, or government ID.
When Apple’s Photos frameworks fetch an original from iCloud Photos for display on your device, that transfer is between your device and Apple’s iCloud Photos service. It is not a ThumbSweep upload.
5. Information processed on your device
To provide core features, the App accesses and processes information locally on your iPhone:
- Photo Library access. With your permission, the App reads your photo library so you can browse, preview, swipe, and (when you confirm) delete items. Access is requested as read/write because deletion requires write capability in Apple’s Photos APIs.
- Keep / trash decisions. Local identifiers for items you mark to keep or send to the in-app trash may be stored in on-device storage (UserDefaults).
- Cleaning statistics. Counts such as total items cleaned and an estimate of space saved may be stored locally.
- Daily free-swipe budget. A local free daily limit (currently 50 swipes/day for non-Premium users) is stored in the device Keychain so it is harder to reset by uninstalling the App. This data stays on the device.
- Preferences. Settings such as whether local notifications are enabled, and whether deck video sound is on, may be stored locally.
These on-device records are part of how the App works on your phone. They are not sent to a ThumbSweep backend because ThumbSweep does not operate one for photo content or review history.
6. Deleting photos
When you confirm deletion in the App:
- the App asks Apple’s Photos framework to delete the selected assets;
- iOS shows Apple’s system confirmation;
- deleted items typically move to the system Recently Deleted album in Apple Photos, where they may remain recoverable for about 30 days (subject to Apple’s behavior and your settings);
- if you use iCloud Photos, Apple may sync that deletion across your devices according to Apple’s systems.
ThumbSweep does not permanently wipe Recently Deleted for you. Emptying Recently Deleted is controlled in Apple Photos / your Apple account settings.
The in-app “Delete All Data” control clears local review progress, pending in-app trash IDs, and cleaning stats on that device. It does not delete photos from your library, cancel Premium, or remove Apple/RevenueCat purchase records.
7. Notifications
If you enable notifications in Settings, the App may schedule local reminders on your device (for example, a daily tidy-up reminder or a free-swipe reset reminder). These notifications are created and delivered by iOS on your device. ThumbSweep does not use remote push notification infrastructure for these reminders.
You can turn notifications off in the App or in iOS Settings.
8. Purchases, subscriptions, and Premium
ThumbSweep offers optional paid features (“Premium”), which remove the free daily swipe limit. Products may include auto-renewable subscriptions and/or a lifetime purchase, as shown in the App and on the App Store.
Apple processes payment, tax, billing, subscription status, and related App Store account activity under Apple’s terms and privacy practices. We do not receive your full payment card number.
To determine whether Premium is active and to support Restore Purchases, the App uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.). RevenueCat may process information such as:
- an anonymous app user identifier;
- purchase and subscription status / entitlement information;
- product identifiers and transaction-related metadata needed to unlock Premium;
- technical information typically needed to operate an in-app purchase SDK (for example, device/app environment details as described in RevenueCat’s documentation and privacy policy).
RevenueCat is used for purchase entitlement management. It is not used to upload your photos. For details, see RevenueCat’s privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
You can manage or cancel auto-renewable subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings: https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
9. This website
This website is a static informational site (product page, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Support). It does not provide an account system and is not used to upload photos.
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) may process standard technical request data such as IP address, user agent, and request timestamps for security, reliability, and delivery of the site. We do not intentionally place advertising cookies on this site for cross-site tracking.
10. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through support email, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we process information as follows:
- Performance of a contract / requested service: providing on-device photo review and deletion features you ask the App to perform;
- Legitimate interests: operating this website securely, responding to support emails you send, and maintaining the integrity of free-usage limits;
- Consent: Photo Library access and optional notifications, which you can grant or withdraw in iOS settings (withdrawing may limit App functionality);
- Legal obligation: where applicable, responding to lawful requests.
Purchase processing by Apple and RevenueCat is also governed by their respective roles and policies.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or to object to certain processing.
Because most App activity data lives on your device:
- you can revoke Photo Library access in iOS Settings;
- you can clear local review data with “Delete All Data” in the App;
- you can delete the App, which removes local App storage (Keychain items may remain on device according to iOS behavior);
- you can manage purchases with Apple;
- for privacy questions or requests related to information you sent us by email, contact thumbsweep@gmail.com.
We will respond to verifiable requests within a reasonable period, generally within 30 days where required by applicable law.
13. Data retention
- On-device App data: retained until you clear it, change it, or remove the App (subject to iOS Keychain behavior).
- Support emails: retained as long as needed to handle your request and for ordinary business records, then deleted or minimized when no longer needed.
- Purchase records: retained by Apple and/or RevenueCat according to their practices and legal requirements.
- Website logs: retained by the host according to its security and operations practices.
14. Security
We design the App so photo content stays under Apple’s Photos/iCloud systems on your devices rather than being uploaded to ThumbSweep. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining control of your device and Apple ID.
15. International users
The App is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Apple, RevenueCat, and our website host may process information in the United States or other countries. Where required, appropriate safeguards are handled by those providers under their terms.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy, except where additional consent is required by law.
